The recall affects 16 products, including several types of cheese, fresh curd, dairy spreads and creams, with “best by” dates of 07/01/14 to 12/31/14. These products were packed in plastic bags and distributed to distributors and retail outlets in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina between 1 April and 14 October.

The recall was initiated following routine sampling by Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Food Inspectors and later FDA environmental sampling that showed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The FDA is investigating cases of illness associated with the products and the company has ceased production pending the results of the investigation.

More information about this recall can be found on the FDA website here.
