Dole packaged salads Listeria outbreak – update

| February 9, 2016

Listeria cellsThe US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that there have been three new cases of listeriosis associated with packaged salads produced at the Dole processing facility at Springfield Ohio.

A total of 15 cases in eight states have now been linked to the outbreak in the USA and a further seven cases reported by the Public Health Agency of Canada have also been confirmed as being caused by the same strain of Listeria monocytogenes as cases in the USA.

A link with Dole packaged salads has been established by both epidemiological and laboratory evidence and the company, which previously withdrew certain products from the market, has now issued a voluntary recall in the USA and Canada of all salad mixes produced at the Springfield facility.
