Dried egg products recalled over possible Salmonella risk

OvaEasy-Powdered-EggsThe USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Nutriom LLC, of Lacey, Washington, is recalling approximately 226,710 pounds of processed egg products because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall includes 26 products that were either shipped to co-packers for incorporation into consumer-size packs, or packed directly in consumer-size packs of varying weights. The recalled products were produced between 28 February 2013 and 8 February 2014 and all bear the establishment number “INSPECTED EGG PRODUCTS PLANT 21493G”. They were distributed nationwide in the USA and also exported to Canada.

Washington State Laboratories discovered the problem after discrepancies in laboratory results came to light following a billing inquiry by Nutriom LLC. There have been no reports of any related cases of illness to date.
