Frozen chicken strips recalled over Listeria concerns

| September 26, 2014

Foster-Farms-chicken-breast-grilled-stripsThe USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Foster Farms, of Farmerville, Louisiana, is recalling approximately 39,747 pounds of frozen pre-cooked Chicken Breast Grilled Strips due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled chicken strips were produced on 5 August 2014 and packed in 3.5-lb plastic re-sealable bags marked with an establishment number “P-33901” and a Best by Date of 08-05-15. The product was distributed to retail warehouse locations in California, Texas, Utah and Washington State.

The company discovered the problem during a routine in-plant inspection and some of the affected chicken was then held. However, the recalled product was inadvertently shipped and released into the supply chain. There have been no reports of related cases of illness to date.
