Ground Oregano recalled over Salmonella risk

McCormick-ground-oreganoThe US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that McCormick & Company Incorporated is voluntarily recalling 1,032 cases of McCormick® Ground Oregano because of possible contamination with Salmonella.

The recalled herb is packed in 0.75-oz bottles with a UPC Number of 0-523561-6 and coded BEST BY AUG 21 16 H and AUG 22 16 H. The product was distributed in 41 US states and exported to countries in the Caribbean and the Far East and to the Netherlands.

The potential contamination risk was detected by FDA routine testing, but no related cases of illness have been reported to date.
