recalled ice creamThe US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Helados La Tapatia Inc., of Fresno, California, is voluntarily recalling all ice cream products, popsicles, fruit bars/cups and bolis because of a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled ices were sold under the Helados La Tapatia and Icesations brand names and distributed to retail outlets in Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington, Guam and Canada.

The problem came to light following routine inspection and testing by FDA officials, which revealed the presence of Listeria on some food processing equipment at the production facility. No related cases of illness have been reported to date.
