The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that the Kraft Foods Group is voluntarily recalling several brands of cottage cheese because some of the ingredients used in manufacture were not stored at the correct temperature, increasing the risk of foodborne illness or premature spoilage.
The recall includes certain lots of Knudsen, Breakstone’s, Simply Kraft and Daily Chef brand cottage cheese and affects 34 products in total, packed in containers of varying size and date coded from “09 May 2014 to 23 Jul 2014, Plant 06-245 only”. Approximately 1.2 million cases of product are affected, distributed to customers nationwide.
The cottage cheese products included in this recall were manufactured at a facility in Tulare, California. The plant has ceased production and distribution while Kraft Foods carries out and investigation.
