Macadamia nuts recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination

Macadamia NutThe US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Marathon Ventures, of Bellevue, Nebraska, is voluntarily recalling certain retail and bulk packages of raw macadamia nuts as a precaution, because of possible contamination with Salmonella.

The recall affects raw macadamia nuts sold under a variety of brand names and in various pack sizes since 11 March 2014. The nuts were distributed through grocery, food service and other retail outlets nationwide.

Marathon Ventures initiated the recall following routine testing of samples by the FDA. There have been no reports of any related cases of illness to date.
