The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Snapp’s Ferry Packing Company, of Afton Tennessee, is recalling approximately 410 pounds of ground beef product that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
The recalled ground beef was produced on 20 November 2015 and packed in 5-lb packages labelled “Ground Beef” and with the establishment number “EST. 9085”. It was distributed to restaurants in the Knoxville, Tenn. area and not sold through retail outlets.
The recall was initiated after FSIS testing carried out as part of an illness investigation in Tennessee produced a positive result for E. coli O157:H7 that was traced back to the Snapp’s Ferry Packing facility.
