Sandwiches recalled over Salmonella risk

| March 6, 2014

Canadian sandwich 2The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced that Lucerne Foods is recalling a number of sandwich products from the market because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall includes two Roast Beef Submarine products, plus Meat Lover’s Sandwich and Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich. The recalled sandwiches were labelled with various codes and distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. They may also have been sold in other provinces.

The potential contamination was discovered by Lucerne Foods, which then initiated the recall. The CFIA is now conducting a food safety investigation, which may result in further recalls. No related cases of illness have been reported to date.
